Nottinghill Carnival Virgin

Nottinghill Carnival has been around since 1966, each year growing and growing.  The Notting Hill Carnival is the largest festival celebration of its kind in Europe. Every year the streets of West London come alive, with the sounds and smells of Europe’s biggest street festival. The Streets are alive with colours, vibrate costumes, performers and 40,000 volunteers. Theres a estimate that 1 million people go to the Festival each year.

Crowds at last year's Carnival

When I found out that Nottinghill Carnival has 1million people attending I was shocked. Being a little one the thought of entering the big long queue that stretched over the whole of the carnival which is miles of the West End where people bump and push and touch you in inappropriate places, don’t get me wrong I panicked. But I obviously sucked it up after a few rums you end up not giving a dam and just to enjoy the music.

I was luckily enough to get AAA for Box Fresh which was hosted by Rinse FM, this was a perfect solution for dancing in your own social space to the epic live music performances by Jess Glynne, Sinead Harnett and Katy B.

I was blessed to meet both Katy B, Sinead Harnett and Jess Glynne, they are awesomely talented singers. Katy B already well established but Jess and Sinead are the definite ones to keep your eyes on as they have both been working so hard going to number of festivals. Jess recently releasing her single “Right Here” and best known for featuring in Clean Bandit “Rather Be” which smashed the top 40 Charts. Sinead is known for featuring in a number of Top 10 Singles including Rudimental “Home and Baby” and Disclosure’s “boiling point” and “Whats in your head”

So there we go …. I am no longer a CARNIVAL VIRGIN, this is a date I will be keeping free in my diary every year. The vibe was Euphoric and you got to see where the carnival originated from with cultures colours whilst enjoying a rum and a Jerk Chicken.
